Going Soft
Modular synthesizers would seem to make the perfect candidate for software modeling…in hardware they are expensive, take up plenty of space, and have no (sane) patch recall system.
There a couple of great emulations, including the Moog Modular by Arturia, but I am especially liking RUHR, a Reaktor Synth by Herwig Krass.
This synth is a monster, taking a long time to open on an I7 with 12 gig of RAM, but once it does open it really gives a nice taste of a modern patchable modular… and just like the real thing you can easily lose a couple of hours playing with it!
