Watching these excerpts from the documentary project “I Dream of Wires”, I felt I was slowly being seduced into wanting a Modular Synth…then I snapped back to reality!
I mean I love these machines as much as the next person (do people that drive Toyota hate Ferrrari?), but I think what one on the interviewees says about there being a sort of “false nostalgia” about these instruments to be accurate.
Having once owned a semi-modular Korg MS-10 I can attest to the (almost) limitless possibilities…I can also attest to a whole lot of time spent not making music (although abstract knob-twiddling can be fun!) and remembering that patch from yesterday…
Think I’ll stick with my Analog-Digital Hybrids and Softsyths. Still, there is no harm in dreaming…
